Reserved Sacrament is stored in the tabernacle. Once the bread and wine are consecrated in Holy Eucharist, and become Jesus’ Body and Blood, these are consumed. Whatever is not consumed is stored as reserved sacrament in order that a eucharistic minister may have access to the sacrament without the need for a separate Mass being celebrated. Sacrament is also reserved to ensure the ongoing physical presence of Jesus Christ within His Church.
